Our church walking group has just completed a
gentle walk around Burnsall and Appletreewick in the Dales. The weather was
lovely and the company very pleasant. We arrived at Burnsall car park and
gathered together. The journey started. In life your journey also starts and
to begin with you have no idea where you are going. We grow up a little,
learn to talk and walk, go to school, get a job, earn some money, get
married, have children and grow old. But what is the purpose? If we go on a
walk and totally ignore our map, or not even take a map, we may end up
completely lost. If we take the easy path every time, eventually we end
drowning in water because water takes the easy path also. No, when we do a
walk, we have a plan, which we try to follow. The path may go uphill for a
lot of the way but if we pursue it, eventually we get to the top and the
view from the top is breathtaking. There is a definite purpose.
In life, if we follow the plan that God has set
out for us, the path may be uphill and sometimes not easy but the reward at
the end is more than breathtaking, it is everlasting. If you feel you are
meandering along, falling down the “easy” path and plummeting into the mud
and wish to change and find the right path, why not pop into one of your
local churches to see if God can lead the way to a life full of purpose?
Follow God’s map for your life.
